Last week we touched on how you can keep your home feeling cool and fresh throughout the summer months, particularly for those who aren’t so keen on the heat. This week, we’re looking at some of the easiest and most stylish ways to bring summer indoors and into your décor – perfect for those sun worshippers who live for the summer months!
Whether it’s adding in pops of colour, embracing a more natural look, or creating your own tropical paradise, we’ve got something for everyone!
Embrace the blues
For those who don’t already know, Pantone’s colour of the year for 2022 is ‘classic blue’, suggesting that trend for blue is here to stay, and can easily be incorporated into a summer-themed revamp! Shades such as royal blue and navy blue have been gaining popularity, and while blue accent walls and accessories are popular year-round, this summer is a chance to think a bit more outside of the box when it comes to this stylish hue.
If you’re confident enough to embrace the more ‘kitschy’ designs, you can make these feel cool and new, as well as even adding subtle nautical elements into your interior style.
Bring the outdoors indoors
The summer months bring light evenings, warmer days and often mean more time spent outdoors. One of the hottest summer trends is bringing the outdoors, indoors. Whether that’s with a range of house plants, (or realistic looking fakes for those without a green thumb!), accessories which complement the ‘outdoors, but indoors’ vibe, or pops of colour that would work well as part of this theme.
If you don’t have a garden, you could ensure that the view out of your windows isn’t obscured by curtains or drapes. And if it is, consider tucking away those extra layers for next winter, and allowing in as much natural light as possible this summer!
Keep it natural
Wood, stone, and rattan are already very popular this summer, and we believe that opting for a more ‘natural’ effect is the way to go. So, whether it’s choosing to paint your living space in cool, neutral and natural shades, or you’re more likely to opt for a piece such as a bamboo coffee table or outdoor rattan furniture, it’s a trend to keep your eye on.
Equally, slat panelling is a huge trend and we predict this will not only be popular for this summer, but will also carry through into 2023 – it’s definitely a trend that’s piqued our interest!
Create a tropical paradise
Again, this trend is perfect for summer and ties in with our earlier point of bringing the outdoors, indoors. Making your home feel like a tropical paradise can be a lot of fun, and really allows you the opportunity to get creative! If you’re working with a more ‘minimalistic’ space, botanical colours and themed wallpaper could just be the way to go. But if that feels like it’s too big of a step, then you can use accessories and furnishings to take advantage of this trend, bring the summer indoors, and add a pop of colour and pizazz.
Ultimately, whether you opt to bring plants into your living room or bedroom, or opt for a tropical print bedding set or throw – it’s never been easier to bring that summer vibe right into your home.
Add pops of colour
While this is a trend that’s not strictly limited to summer, injecting bursts of colour into your home by way of bright rugs, colourful prints and bold hues in an interesting variety textures is a great yet simple way of bringing some of summer’s colours indoors.
As we’ve mentioned previously, using small pops of colour in a minimalistic space can really add personality and bring some of the drama and vibrancy of summer – especially if you’ve previously gone down the ‘all grey and white’ route previously!
Regardless of whether you’re a summer lover, an autumn dreamer or you live for the cold weather, there is no better time than summer to start having fun and injecting pops of colour into your living space, and your life.
